We stock rapid COVID-19 tests for people without symptoms. You can purchase one from us at Morningside Pharmacy in Leicester, Sileby, Glenfield, Mickleover and Northampton.
Any unused or unwanted medicines should be returned to your nearest pharmacy. This does not apply to nursing or care homes.
You may get emergency contraception free of charge in some of the Morningside Pharmacy branches, but note that the pharmacist is required to have a confidential discussion with the intended user first to make sure the supply is safe and clinically appropriate. In the discussion, the pharmacist will assess the suitability of emergency contraception for you and can advise on the risks of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) as well as providing information about what to do in the long term, such as considering options for ongoing contraception. The pharmacist may also provide you with additional advice on safe sex and other matters related to sexual behaviour. There may be specific criteria in place (set by the local NHS) that need to be met before this service can be provided to a service user.
If you need one of your regular medicines in an emergency and you are unable to contact your doctor, we may be able to help. We must stress that this can only be done in genuine emergencies and it may incur a charge.
The pharmacist and our trained assistants are available for advice on all medicines, minor ailments and health issues. We have private consultation rooms in every branch if required. We can also give you advice on how to live a healthier lifestyle, including advice on how to stop smoking, healthy diet and health supplements.
We can direct you to other sources of advice and assistance if we cannot help you ourselves.
In our branches and by telephone we can advise on medical requirements for travellers, including anti-malaria treatments, protection from the Sun and other common “holiday ailments”.
You can have a free NHS flu vaccination at our pharmacy:
• If you are 65 years of age or over
• If you are pregnant
•If you are a carer
• If you are deemed to be in a clinical risk group
No appointments are necessary and you can walk-in to one of our branches which offer this service from October 2023 (exact date has yet to be confirmed by the NHS)
When you are prescribed a medicine to treat a long-term condition for the first time, our pharmacists can support you to use the medicine safely and to best effect. Morningside pharmacists will talk to you approximately one-two weeks after you first receive the medicine to see how you are getting on with it and to discuss any problems you may have. A second follow-up will be a month after you first receive the medicine. The service is only available to people using certain medicines. In some cases where there is a problem apparent and a solution cannot be found between you and the pharmacist, you will be referred back to your doctor.
